• Halfway Hot Springs BC

Who hasn’t dreamt about soaking in a natural hot spring, in the middle of the wilderness, at the edge of a rushing glacial river? If you have (and why wouldn’t you) Halfway Hot Springs should be right at the top of your “must do” list.

  • 10 Things Kids Hate About Travel

We travelled full-time from 2013 until COVID grounded us. The kids were just 6 and 8 years old when they left home. They visited 50 or so countries, most of them many times. We were backpacker-type travellers, rather than slow travellers, but we did put in some long stints in LondonRomania and Vietnam. We actually rented homes in all of those places, using them as bases more than full-time residences. Most of the time we stayed in hotels, some expensive, some budget. The boys were homeschooled, or “worldschooled” throughout these years and for a few years prior to departure. I am a travel blogger.
  • This is the perfect itinerary to discover Taiwan with kids

Soon after moving to the Philippines, Taiwan became high on our list of places to visit. This small island has a big history and although the many national parks are a big draw, its awe-inspiring landscapes are not all it has to offer.

Taiwan has modern, vibrant cities, beaches, hot springs, amazing food and dozens of picture-perfect scenic areas. Being ruled by Japan from 1895 until 1945, Taiwan is organised and efficient and the Taiwanese are amazingly friendly, polite people.

Plus, as we found out, there are so many things to do in Taiwan with kids.

  • Here’s why you’ll love Arc 1950 in summer

Arc 1950 is a purpose-built ski resort and one of four villages that makes up the resort of Les Arcs. It sits on a plateau just below its neighbour Arc 2000 in the French Alps. It’s high, enjoys reliable and generous snowfall in winter and gives skiers quick access to the huge Paradiski area.

Unlike many purpose-built resorts, however, Arc 1950 is full of character. Designed to resemble a traditional Savoyard village, Arc 1950 is absolutely charming. It’s also incredibly convenient; small, pedestrianised and with easy ski-in, ski-out access, it’s the perfect place for a family ski holiday.

  • Mountain biking in Les Gets – the good, the bad, the bruises

If I’m being honest, when I agreed to spend a morning mountain biking in Les Gets I didn’t really know what to expect. I have spent many summers in the Portes du Soleil region and think of the Morzine Les Gets area as a second home. I have hiked the walking trails, swum in the lakes and tried myriad other Alpine activities including foraging, paragliding and sleeping under the stars in a hammock. But I had never tried mountain biking, until this summer.

  • London With Kids

Of all the cities in the world, London with kids is my top pick for children because of the wealth of child-friendly, fun, cultural, historic, educational, and family-oriented things to do in the UK’s capital city. Thankfully, many of the things to do in London with kids are free. Of course, London can be expensive too, be ready for that, but the devalued pound and good exchange rates could help overseas visitors a lot. Flights to London have also become more affordable lately. Some ideas, tips, reviews, and guides on London with children, 2021 updated. Some are my own childhood favourites, some are things and places my kids and our family loved to do in London. Visiting London with children by a Londoner, a local mum, a returned ex-pat, and a full-time professional traveller. We include things to do in London, things to do near London, the practicalities of visiting London with kids and the best family experiences we can find.

  • Port Douglas With Kids

Port Douglas Queensland Australia is a beautiful, up-market resort town with easy access to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest. It’s a dream destination for families with kids with many safe, beautiful, outdoor things to do. We’ve called it home since our kids were toddlers, babies really. If you’ve not had a chance to visit Port Douglas with your family you need to put that right. A look at things to do in Port Douglas with kids, of any age, but with a little special focus on the small kids. My two are teens now, so we can give you plenty of information on the town we sometimes call home.
  • Pros and Cons of Living in The Tropics

Welcome to our world travel site. Part of travel is experiencing different climates along with cultures, food and landscapes. Many dream of tropical beaches and enveloping heat and for a 2 week holiday it can be wonderful. But what about long-term? What’s it like to slow travel, live as a digital nomad, or even emigrate to the tropics? We did just that, we moved to live in a tropical climate as expats over a decade ago, with two very small kids. Subsequently we spent years in the heat and humidity of tropical Southeast Asia in Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia, as we travelled the world. What are the pros and cons of living in a hot climate?
